Peter Lloyd is Chef-Owner of Sticky Mango on London’s South Bank, where he serves his modern interpretations of South-East Asian cuisine inspired by his extensive travels across the region.
With a career spanning 25 years, Lloyd has a host of prestigious roles under his belt, including senior positions in some of London's most glamorous kitchens. He also trained at The House of Commons and the world-famous Dorchester Hotel on Park Lane. Lloyd secured his first Head Chef position at RSJ Restaurant, Waterloo, aged just 23. Here he was given creative freedom, which allowed him to flourish, producing menus that wowed the critics as well as the public, and saw him awarded two AA Rosettes.
During this period, Lloyd found time to squeeze in stages with Pierre Koffmann, Gordon Ramsay, Marco Pierre White and a week in Chicago, working with the late Chef Charlie Trotter.
In 2009, after long stints as Head Chef at BANK restaurant, City Inn Hotels and as a Private Chef to Lord and Lady Bamford, Lloyd discovered his passion for South-East Asian cuisine as Executive Chef at the five-star Sanderson Hotel and Suka Restaurant. In 2011, Lloyd took the helm as Executive Chef of Spice Market at The W Hotel, a concept created by world-renowned two Michelin star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Following Spice Market’s closure in 2016, Nigel Wilkinson, RSJ Restaurant’s owner, invited Lloyd to open his own restaurant on the first floor of RSJ and Sticky Mango was born.
When Wilkinson retired, Lloyd grasped the opportunity to take on the whole restaurant and today he runs it with his partner Rosa D’Imperio. In 2019, Sticky Mango was awarded "Best Fusion" at the Golden Chopsticks awards and one of Fay Maschler's best restaurants. Lloyd regularly travels abroad learning new styles of cookery and dishes, sharing his knowledge with his UK clientele. He also promotes the best of South-East Asian food abroad including pop ups in Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Bali and the World St. Food Congress in Singapore and the Philippines. Most recently Peter has signed a collaboration with the JW Marriott in Doha as consultant chef for their Shanghai Club.
Lloyd has also appeared on numerous TV shows including James Martin Saturday Morning, Saturday Kitchen, BBC Celebrity Masterchef and Junior Bake Off.
