Grace Dent is an award-winning restaurant critic, currently writing for the Guardian and starring as a regular guest judge on BBC’s MasterChef. Grace hosts chart-topping podcast, Comfort Eating (The Guardian). The podcast sat in No.1 across All Categories for 4 weeks.

She may be intimidating to some (especially ambitious amateur chefs) but Grace’s warm personality and wonderful sense of humour place joy and comedy at the heart of all she does.

Her best-selling memoir, Hungry (HarperCollins) tells her story of growing up in a working-class family in Currock, Carlisle to becoming one of the much-loved voices on the British food scene. It exudes nostalgia and is not just relatable and charming but also ‘tender and touching’ as Grace writes about her father’s dementia with heart-breaking honesty.

You feel a sense of home when you read Grace’s work or listen to her on the radio. She has an endless supply of beautiful anecdotes such as how a Cadbury’s Fruit ‘n’ Nut in a hospital vending machine can brighten the toughest situation.

On screen Grace has also appeared on Have I Got News For You, Sky Art’s Book Club, Between The Covers, Mastermind, BBC2’s The Review Show, Britain’s Greatest Comedy Character, The Culture Show, Delete Delete Delete, Very British Problems, The Apprentice, and Charlie Brooker’s Screenwipe.

Grace’s presenting extends to radio broadcasting and in both 2019 and 2020 Grace hosted on BBC Radio 2 on Christmas Day as well as presenting the morning show over the Christmas period. Her latest radio project sees Grace presenting The Untold on BBC Radio 4 which has been nominated for an ARIA twice.

Grace has written eleven novels for teenagers. Grace’s Diary of a Snob novels about the schoolgirl Poppet Montague Jones were acquired by Nickelodeon. Grace’s first non-fiction title was How To Leave Twitter (My Time as Queen of the Universe and Why This Must Stop).
